Friday evening we were treated to a fabulous dinner at what still tops my list of fave restaurants: The Barolo Grill. Just walking up to the place, our noses jumped delightfully, happy with the smells leading our way inside. Dinner began with two delightful appetizers: duck liver pate and tuna carpaccio. I'm not usually a pate fan, finding the texture a bit of a mouthful and the taste overwhelming. This was not the case with the duck liver pate. It danced on my tongue with a hint of sweetness, delicate and light. The tuna carpaccio again proved fabulous, extremely thin and meltable. The salad course followed, with a spinach/blue cheese/bacon and a romaine with ample slices of fresh parmesan. Main courses came next and I opted for the slow cooked/brined duckling, which fell apart into tender morsels, again delighting my tasty tastebuds. Dinner, although totally full at the time, finished with a shared warm gingerbread cake topped with vanilla ice cream. Yum, simply yum.
