ENG122 Carnival of Introductions

posted Wednesday, 31 January 2007

Introductions often run a standard course of this is who I am, this is what I do, and this is something else about me. When reading through the class introductions, most of them took the form of a simple list. The lack of detailed description in the introductions might be attributed to the poor instructions of the instructor or simply the blog reticence of the bloggers. Despite the brevity, certain details could be gleaned about individuals.  Most introductions includes bits about jobs held, while some entries revealed tidbits of surprises. Animals found their way into some of the introductions: dogs, cats, ferrets, horses. 80s music also seemed to make its way to the forefront of some people's musical tastes. Below are some highlights of the class introductions.

AJ perhaps has retrieved your car after a night of gambling in Blackhawk. He probably smells very fresh since he "take[s] too many showers."

Water is also a part of Racheal's life, since she is a lifeguard in Westminster.

If you are in need of a different type of saving, perhaps from an EMT, then Dave is your man. He might even deliver emergency care while speaking a bit of German, Spanish, and Arabic.

Perhaps Nici and Sarah M might want to converse with Dave. Nici desires to learn Arabic, and Sarah desires to learn Spanish.

Toby also mentions languages in his blog; he can read a bit of New Testament Greek.

Learning is clearly a part of Colleen's life, since she works at a Montessori High School. It's not just any Montessori high school; it's "one of the first public Montessori secondary schools in the nation."

Laurie also works in what some feel is an educational environment--a childcare center, where she's an Infant Nursery Supervisory.

Would doggie daycare be considered an educational environment? Just ask Justine who works in one.

Being a nerd is embraced by Jaymes, who begins his introduction by proclaiming he's unsure what to write about, yet manages to write an introduction longer than most of his classmates.

Nick on the other hand is certain about how to approach his blog introduction. He defines himself through a top five list because "[it's] what you like, not what you are like that matters."

And finally, if you need someone to perform bits of his classmates' lives, call on Zach, who is "interested in all things theatrical."
